Workout Wear, Gym Kit, Fitness Gear
If you are starting out on a new workout routine or are an expert gym bunny, the most important item should be your sports bra. Even if you are only doing low impact exercise it is still possible to damage the ligaments that support your breasts, no matter how big or small you are. Invest in the best sports bra that you can and although they look quite un-sexy, the thicker the straps the better.
Clothes for most types of exercise need to be able to stretch with you as you move. If you are pear shaped, petite or have chunky calves then short trousers that stop mid calf are unflattering, a boot cut trouser in a material that allows your skin to breath are a great investment.
Your Ideal Fitness Kit
If you do a lot of running, then a good pair of trainers is essential. If you have a high instep, trainers that have a very cushioned sole are best, whereas a low arch and flatter feet need a firmer sole to their shoe. A reputable sport shop should be able to give you expert advice on the best pair for you.
If you prefer being in the gym then a good quality cross-trainer would be a good solution. Although it is tempting to wash your trainers in the washing machine this can ruin the cushioning in the heel. It is preferable, although more expensive, to replace your trainers regularly and only wear them to do your chosen exercise then allow them to air in the meantime.
It is tempting to wear a baggy T-shirt to hide any excess weight that you are trying to shift, however it will usually make you appear wider than you actually are and can also hinder movement or catch on equipment. Fitted tops that can absorb sweat are your best bet, but stay away from super tight clothes or tiny shorts as these are only suitable for teenagers or the extremely slender.
